  • Executive Presence from the Inside Out

Research from the Center for Talent Innovation has shown that 26% of the reasons people get promoted is due to Executive Presence – but what is that? Many books have been written, many concepts and thoughts about this, but it still remains an elusive element.

Developing executive presence is not only about being promoted, but it’s about having an impact within our role, being listened to, be an influential voice in the room, feeling calm and clear with our ideas and thoughts.

This session will touch lightly on what are the external levers to increasing Executive Presence, but most importantly, we will explore what are the internal keys to be able to put into practice those external levers.

  • Non-Predatory Leadership - When Horses are "People Whisperers'

Many great leaders — Buddha, Alexander the Great, George Washington, Winston Churchill, were also excellent horsemen ; they often rode horses that no one else could ride.

It's not a coincidence! The mastery of a difficult horse, just like the leadership of a project team, requires excellent non-verbal interactions & a high degree of emotional intelligence in order to identify & resolve conflicts at an early stage, as well as to motivate the group to strive together towards a common goal.

Linda Kohanov developed this innovative approach where the horses become « people whisperers » : come discover a different way to approach team management inspired by the behaviour of horse herd leaders, and by the ancient "Master Herder" tribes that live among their cattle in Africa. You will learn about a new non-predatory collective approach that is compassionate and respectful of others, inspired by the behaviour of horse herds.

Lorraine's session will help you to:

    • Understand group dynamics and leadership by observing herds of herbivores
    • Learn about the multiple profiles of a leader, and which profile is best adapted to any given situation

  • Get Real, Get Smart: How Organizations Can Make Meaningful and Measurable Progress Towards Gender Equality

Despite significant pressures on organizations to speed up progress and the wide implementation of pledges, policies, and programs focused on empowering women in the workplace, these well-intentioned efforts have not moved the needle on gender parity. Organizations that are making the most progress are disrupting the status quo.

Join Mercer’s diversity and inclusion expert, Angela Berg, as she shares how organizations can drive progress towards achievable outcomes while building an inclusive culture, using evidence-based approaches for leadership accountability, pay equity and transparency, career development, inclusive benefits and more.

Using the highly anticipated results from the latest When Women Thrive, Businesses Thrive research, attendees will be challenged to examine typical D&I practices and beliefs and learn how to get real and get smart about making progress.
