Meet our speakers:

Calin Metes, Deputy CEO for Investment at Franklin Templeton Bucharest. 

With a decade-long tenure at Franklin Templeton, Mr. Metes has been a driving force in overseeing key companies within Fondul Proprietatea's portfolio, and researching potential investment opportunities in South-Eastern Europe. His extensive experience as a Portfolio Manager at Raiffeisen Asset Management and Investment Analyst at Finas Invest speaks volumes about his expertise. Holding dual Master's degrees and Bachelor's degrees from Babes-Bolyai University, Cluj Napoca, Mr. Meteş is also a proud CFA® designation holder. 

Johan Meyer, CEO of Franklin Templeton Bucharest and Portfolio Manager of Fondul Proprietatea. 

With an impressive 20-year journey in asset management, Mr. Meyer brings unparalleled expertise in emerging and frontier markets. Relocating to Romania in 2016, he took the helm as Co-CEO of Franklin Templeton Bucharest and Co-Portfolio Manager of Fondul Proprietatea, spearheading fund management and investment strategy. 

Previously, as Managing Director in South Africa and Director of Africa Strategy for Templeton Emerging Markets Group, Mr. Meyer shaped overarching strategies, provided insightful guidance, and orchestrated resourceful coverage to enhance product value. Armed with a bachelor's degree in commerce and honors in economics from the University of Pretoria, his multilingual abilities in English and Afrikaans add to his dynamic profile. 

Simona Ochian, Vice President of Investments at Franklin Templeton Bucharest. 

With over 16 years of financial prowess, Mrs. Ochian steers the ship, overseeing key portfolio companies of Fondul Proprietatea.  Her dynamic engagement with stakeholders and board memberships highlights her dedication to maximizing value within the Fund's portfolio. 

Before anchoring at Franklin Templeton, she navigated through Unicredit and EFG Eurobank Finance, contributing to noteworthy M&A and ECM transactions valued at over EUR 1bn.  Armed with a Master's in Valuation and Financial Analysis and a Bachelor's in Marketing Studies from the Academy of Economic Studies, Bucharest, Mrs. Ochian's expertise extends beyond the horizon.
