"Emotions in the workplace": how to rely on our emotional competencies in order to deepen our influence in the workplace.
The times they are a changin’ (Bob Dylan)
Up until recently emotion was a distasteful word in the workplace. Evocative of angry emotional outbursts and lack of self-control. For years, the (male) senior executives that I coach used to tiptoe around tales of emotional displays during yearly performance appraisals, before blurting out “it’s a she of course; it’s always a woman”.
Thankfully, Daniel Goleman and a few other Harvard scholars popularized the concept of emotional intelligence and, in doing so, opened the doors for emotional competencies to be seen as a tool for productivity within organizations.
During this webinar, we’ll use thought leadership and a few short experiments to learn how psychology and neurosciences claim that emotions are at the root of any decision-making, strategic thinking, employee / customer engagement, innovation, and leadership at large.
In doing so we’ll look at concepts such as emotional tagging, emotional agility, and social conscience.
By truly engaging with our emotions, and owning up to it, we will naturally extend our influence within the workplace.
