President’s Charity Choice 2024: Empowering a New Picture for Women’s Futures.
On the 13th of September 2024, we hosted an incredible event that went amazingly well: the annual President’s Charity Choice event, London Fashion Week - “Empowering a New Picture for Women’s Futures.”
PWN London proudly presented a Charity Fashion Show, sponsored by the British Fashion Council, to raise funds for Books Beyond Words and empower a new picture for women’s futures. The event was a resounding success, raising [TBC] for this worthy cause.
The evening featured an unforgettable Charity Fashion Show, with a glamorous runway display by models with learning disabilities and Down's Syndrome from Books Beyond Words.
As a leading advocate for gender equality and DEI, PWN London supports charities that align with our mission, particularly those that champion the inclusion of individuals with Down’s syndrome across all sectors and industries. This runway show supported the models from Books Beyond Words and showcased the eye-catching designs from design house MH Mena and House of Kind.
Following the show, attendees indulged in a delightful drinks and canapés reception and participated in winning prizes generously donated by PWN London’s esteemed corporate partners and sponsors including the Rotary Club of London.
This extraordinary event took place at Future Dreams House, a cherished hub dedicated to supporting those affected by breast cancer, further contributing to the event’s worthy cause.
All profits raised went directly to supporting Books Beyond Words. Thank you to everyone who attended and made this event a phenomenal success!
Introducing MH Mena
Combining modern innovation in the world of couture with traditional, artisan craftsmanship, MH Mena’s core values are to provide superior results for clients through their commitment to excellence in making custom made luxury womenswear pieces. No matter the occasion or the brief, MH Mena's dedication to design around the woman in front of her is channelled into every stitch, cut and sketch they make. MH Mena's focus on empowering women through their designs is what makes them the perfect design partner for this event, "Empowering a new picture for women's futures"
Introducing House of Kind
House of Kind is the brainchild of Sonica Beckmann (Founder and CEO) and was established with three purposes in mind: to create a sisterhood in the workplace (there’s an old boys club so it’s about time we had a club of our own), to prove that kindness in work is essential; and to offer luxurious workwear options without the eyewatering prices.
House of Kind allows women to seek out like-minded women in business through fashion, owing to the recognisable details on the clothing Sonica has designed.
The brand works to bring together women who hold the same kind and supportive values, women who aren't afraid to wear their heart on their sleeves and yet never fail to get the job done; and each garment is carefully crafted with this in mind.
We are proud partners of Dress For Success London and Mission Wonder Woman Foundation from inception, because we believe all women should rise together.
Who are Books Beyond Words?
Books Beyond Words is the UK’s national charity for visual literacy and emotional wellbeing. Everyone knows pictures can be more powerful than words. Being able to ‘read’ the images we see is how we know a green light means go, a smile means someone is happy to see us, or that a piece of art is telling us a story. This is the core of visual literacy – the ability to make meaning from the pictures in front of us.
Registered charity number 1183942 (England and Wales)

Rotary is a service club and a humanitarian organisation with the moto “Service Above Self”. Through membership of the club, members use their time and talents to make a difference in their communities and around the world, working together to make this world a better place.
The venue: History of Future Dreams
Future Dreams was founded in 2008 by mother and daughter, Sylvie Henry and Danielle Leslie. By a cruel twist of fate, they were both diagnosed with breast cancer, Danielle aged just 35 and a mother of three young children. Tragically both women lost their lives to secondary breast cancer within a year of each other in 2009. Their legacy lives on in Future Dreams and the thousands of women the charity supports every year.
