Member Spotlight: Danielle Herman in her own words
"I grew up on a workshop floor, watching my father weld and create innovations. Yet somehow, I still felt expected to follow more traditionally “female-oriented” paths - adapting to expectations and societal norms.
After nearly 15 years working in an organisation where technical expertise is highly valued and continuously tested, I often felt like a misfit. My colleagues are true experts in their fields, able to apply their knowledge across environments and identify friction in complex systems - my wife being one of them.
Over the past 10 years, I have gradually grown into a more confident woman - someone who increasingly owns the rooms she is in. My technical insights now allow me to see solutions others might not yet consider. I’ve come to realise how much I can draw from a diverse portfolio of work and life experiences. It’s a constant source of inspiration, shaped by the many people who have shared their stories and knowledge with me.
This journey began even before PWN Netherlands came into my life.
But meeting this group of supportive, uplifting women has given me the missing piece: the agency to truly build something of my own and to start telling my own story.
After years of being a chameleon, I’m choosing to show up more fully as myself. That takes courage. And with this network standing beside me, even the sky no longer feels like the limit.
I’m very much looking forward to growing this network further - as a member and in my volunteer role as Tech Lead - and to connecting with even more women who are looking for a place like this."
