Vice President Strategic PartnershipKarl Godfried

Karl Godderis is a distinguished strategic leader with a professional career spanning almost 30 years across Southeast Asia and Australia, currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer of EUROCHAM Malaysia. A Belgian national by origin, Godderis has dedicated the main part of his professional life to navigating the complexities of the Asian market, building a profound expertise in management consulting, cross-border mergers and acquisitions (M&A), and Foreign Direct Investment (FDI). His career trajectory reflects a deep commitment to fostering strong international business ties and driving sustainable economic growth in the region. Godderis's academic foundation is solid, holding a double degree in Applied Economics and International Relations from the Catholic University of Louvain, Belgium. This background provided the framework for a career that began with an internship in Malaysia in 1995, a move he described as a forward-thinking step by the Belgian company. This initial experience in Kuala Lumpur led to a significant 20-year period in Indonesia, followed by several years in Australia, before returning to Malaysia approximately five years ago. Godderis's career includes working with major consulting firms like PwC and Kearney, as well as managing his own advisory firm. His advisory work focused on assisting foreign investors in Southeast Asia with regional strategies, supply chain, and business transformation. He also held executive roles, such as establishing Pragma Finance's Asian presence. Having held various board roles with European Chambers of Commerce in Malaysia and Indonesia for over 20 years, Godderis became CEO of EUROCHAM Malaysia in January 2025. As CEO, he represents over 1,600 member companies, advocating for increased bilateral trade and investment. His current priorities include global trade rules, regulatory predictability, customs efficiency, and the green economy. He works with policymakers and industry leaders to position Malaysia as a European investment hub and a link for sustainability in ASEAN. Outside of work, Godderis is also a published author, having written two spy novels.
