Jennifer is a Malaysian citizen with UK Right of Abode.
She has 4 decades of extensive experience in senior management positions with global branding, advertising and communications corporations in Asia: in Hong Kong, Japan, Taiwan and Malaysia. She has vast experience in business transformation; a builder of new or fledgling offices into pre-eminent positions. In her career, Jennifer acquired a distinctive understanding of the East-West cultural interface, in building some of the most famous and successful brands in Asia.
She was the first woman to become CEO of an international advertising agency in Malaysia, at J Walter Thompson. After 18 years with J Walter Thompson (5 years in Hong Kong, 2 years in Japan, 3 years in Taiwan and the rest of the time in Malaysia), she joined BBDO, another international advertising agency, part of the New York listed Omnicom Group. She was appointed Group Chief Executive of BBDO/Proximity Malaysia and stayed for 15 years.
In her career, she was a curator of some of the most prominent brands in Asia. She built an agency to No.1 position in a challenging Hong Kong market. She was the first woman to run USD100 million business in Japan. She built an advertising agency from scratch in Taiwan.
At BBDO, she grew the business from zero to top 2 in Malaysia and top 6 in ASEAN. During her leadership, BBDO was ranked the 6th most creative agency in the world as measured by the Gunn Report.
She has extensive experience in driving strong creative growth in perpetually changing consumers’ landscape. Her ability to lead and achieve results among diverse teams of creative talent is one of her most notable strengths.
The Chairman & CEO of BBDO Asia referred to BBDO Malaysia under her leadership as “the petri dish for talent in the world”.
Her company’s top clients stayed for an average of 10 years, a rare sight in the advertising and communications
industry. BBDO had double digit growth year-on-year during her leadership.
After more than 3 decades in the international corporate world, Jennifer decided to start her own business.
She co-founded Chai Ramsay Brand Consultants with her business partner.
