PWN Dublin: Finding Connection Through Communication
Alison Ross drives PWN Dublin’s digital engagement as Social Media Manager and shapes purpose-driven campaigns as a Campaigns Support Specialist at EirGrid. Fusing her passion for communications, sustainability, and inclusion, Alison crafts content and creative visual strategies that inspire connection and drive positive change.
Raised in Dún Laoghaire and shaped by a multicultural upbringing in Bahrain, Alison developed a global mindset and a passion for meaningful connection. She reflects,
Living in such a diverse culture taught me to recognise our similarities, respect our differences, and build strength through connection.
A favorite quote from Audre Lorde guides her approach: "It is not our differences that divide us. It is our inability to recognise, accept, and celebrate those differences."
Alison moved to Scotland at 18 to study Business with Marketing at The University of Edinburgh, where navigating university life during the Covid-19 pandemic built her resilience and adaptability. She believes that navigating university during lockdowns was challenging, but it taught her to prioritize connection and stay adaptable in the face of change.
Returning to Dublin, Alison launched her career through the EirGrid Graduate Programme, ready to rebuild her network and make a meaningful impact.
Starting from scratch in Ireland was daunting, but joining EirGrid and PWN Dublin gave me a true sense of belonging. These communities have empowered me to grow, learn, and connect with purpose.
At EirGrid, Alison bridges strategy and creativity, delivering campaigns that advance sustainability and inclusion. At PWN Dublin, she began as a Mentoring Programme volunteer, leading communications and amplifying the achievements of mentors and mentees through innovative content and dynamic visuals.
The Mentoring Programme showed me the power of women supporting women. Spaces where people share honestly, grow together, and encourage each other to step into their potential.
Alison's creative leadership led to her current role as Social Media Manager, where she shapes how PWN Dublin celebrates its community and energises its digital voice.
Looking Ahead
Alison’s journey is defined by openness, creativity, and purposeful action—values that echo PWN Dublin’s mission. She brings strategic expertise, a deep commitment to inclusion, and the belief that storytelling and collaboration create lasting impact. She states “I’ve learned from every experience—living abroad, studying through a pandemic, starting afresh in a new city. For me, it all comes back to people, stories, and the impact we can make when we work together.”
