PWI Brussels: Accelerate Your Career: Why Brilliant Women Need Sponsors

Online via MS Teams

About this online event

Across industries, countless women deliver exceptional work — but the pathway to senior roles often feels slow, narrow or unclear.

Why?

Women are under-sponsored by more than 50% compared to men in many workplaces. This gap matters. Because without leaders who actively champion their potential, open doors and have their backs, highly capable women are overlooked — a challenge that becomes harder in male-dominated fields and management.
“Women need sponsors, not mentors” is a classic mantra. Whilst true, it’s never fully explained. Few people spell out how sponsorship boosts promotions, pay rises and access to career-critical assignments. Fewer describe the unwritten rules to finding and interacting with sponsors, beyond general networking and personal branding tips.

The result?

Thousands of brilliant women miss out — not because they lack ability or ambition, but because they’ve never been shown how sponsorship really works. This interactive talk changes the status quo. Join international expert, Helen Tubb, who combines senior executive experience and INSEAD-awarded research, to demystify sponsorship and show how it can accelerate your career.

You’ll come away with fresh insights to:
  • Understand why sponsorship is essential for women’s careers and leadership
  • Recognise the difference between sponsors, mentors and other supporters — using the “Sponsor CODE” framework
  • Learn from other successful women who secured sponsors - and sponsored other women!
  • Take first actions to leverage sponsorship opportunities for your career

This talk forms part of Helen's career programme for women, "The Sponsorship Edge", starting in February 2026. A discount is available for PWI members. Members can reach out to pdprogram@pwi.be to request the promo code.
