It’s going to take 217 years to close the global economic gender gap

For the first time since the World Economic Forum’s records began in 2006, the global gender gap is widening again.

The data make for depressing reading. Each year, the WEF ranks 144 countries in its Global Gender Gap Index to see how they compare on four “pillars”: economic participation and opportunity, education, political empowerment, and health and survival.
