AGENDA

9.30 am: Welcome coffee & registration

10.30 am: Opening Remarks

10.30-11.30 am:   Conference - Strategies for Climate Risk Exposure - Professor Gianfranco GIANFRATE
To combat the risks posed by global warming, an increasing number of national, state, and local governments are implementing policies to price carbon emissions. The evolving policy landscape poses both risks and opportunities for companies and investors. The transition towards a low-carbon economy will require profound innovations in the way the global financial system manages climate-related risks. As climate risks do appear more pervasive and material for the financial system than previously thought, the compelling issue for investors is how to manage or neutralize such risks once they have been identified and quantified. If investors do not want to be exposed to climate risk, what are the possible strategies?

11.30 am: Coffee Break

12 pm:  Conference - Sustainability: The Good, The Bad & The Ugly – Professor Geert DEMUIJNCK
Sustainability has become a strategic issue for major corporations. Note only are the legal constraints more demanding, also the consumers are more and more worried about climate change and other issues related to a sustainable economy. Therefore, corporations must take care of their reputation in terms of sustainability. In this lecture different strategies and ways of reporting about environmental impact and sustainability will be compared, and critically analyzed and some difficulties related to the assessment of non-financial data (e.g. for SRI funds) will be pointed out.
