Vittoria Bussi

Mathematician and professional cyclist

Description

Vittoria Bussi is an Italian mathematician and professional track cyclist. With a PhD in Pure Mathematics from the University of Oxford, she later turned to cycling at the age of 27, proving that it is never too late to pursue excellence. She is a four-time World Record holder, including the prestigious Hour Record (2018, 2023, 2025) and the Individual Pursuit (2025), becoming the first woman in history to hold both records simultaneously. Her unique journey combines science, performance, and resilience, showing that knowledge and sport can grow together. Through her work, she promotes inclusion, independence, and the idea that every athlete can build their own path without giving up their individuality.
