Merran is an experienced independent chair and director of over 25 years’ standing with expertise in finance, audit, risk, and compliance. She focuses on corporate governance and profit for purpose organisations with strong member/stakeholder and public interest outcomes. Merran champions Integrated Thinking within entities and external reporting with Integrated financial and non-financial issues including sustainability, strategy, and risk management. Merran chairs Dementia Australia and London based IFRS Advisory Council and is a director of Australian Red Cross Lifeblood, Medical Indemnity Protection Society, Tax Practitioners Board and Tarrawarra Museum of Art. Her previous appointments include President & Chair CPA Australia, Professor of Practice in School of Accounting, Auditing and Taxation at UNSW Business School, Director of Care Super and Vic Super, Chair and CEO, Australian Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (AUASB), Member International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (IAASB), Deputy Chair Melbourne Water, Director RACV, National Gallery of Victoria and Council RMIT University.
