PWI Mentoring Program: Mentors - Active Listening workshop
PWI Mentoring 2025 – Mentors Only: Active Listening Lab
🎧 What you’ll take away from this Active Listening Lab:
This isn’t just about “being a good listener.”
It’s about becoming the kind of leader or mentor who makes others feel truly heard and in doing so, invites insight, trust, and transformation.
In this Lab, you’ll learn how to:
🔹 Listen to understand, not just to respond
Break the habit of rehearsing your reply while the other person is still speaking. You’ll practise simple prompts and mindset shifts that help you stay fully present; even in fast-paced, high-stakes conversations.
Example: “What do you need most right now?” -> a question that often shifts the whole conversation.
🔹 Hear what isn’t being said
You’ll begin noticing the tone beneath the words, the pauses, the body language and how to gently explore those subtler layers to deepen connection.
Example: “You said you’re fine… but I sensed a pause. Want to explore that?”
🔹 Use micro-signals that build trust
Learn the power of strategic silence, reflective responses, and subtle non-verbal cues that help the other person feel safe, seen, and open.
This is more than a communication skill. It’s a presence practice and it can change the way you lead, mentor, and connect.
